Core Leadership Areas

National SHRM has determined critical – or core – areas to the success of achieving its mission to Advance the Profession and Serve the Professional. The efforts of our chapter are vital to success in these areas and each chapter has been asked to work collaboratively with National SHRM in defining goals, creating alignment between SHRM goals and chapter goals and implementing effective support initiatives in these core leadership areas.

Please take a look at the Core Leadership Areas below to see what each committee is doing, how these initiatives will benefit our members, and how you can participate.

    College and Community Relations

RASHRM offers scholarship opportunties for HR college majors and professionals pursuing their HRCI certification. We also partner with local schools to assist students pursuing HR related degrees. We also work with several local not for profit organizations to donate items that are necessary to assist those in need to better their lives.

    Diversity

The Rockford Area SHRM Chapter 182 agrees with the National SHRM’s definition of Diversity, Inclusion and Diversity Management and therefore adopts the same definitions as follows:

The collective mixture of differences and similarities that includes for example, individual and organizational characteristics, values, beliefs, experiences, backgrounds, preferences, and behaviors.

Inclusion - The  achievement of a work environment in which all individuals are treated fairly and respectfully, have equal access to opportunities and resources, and can contribute fully to the organization’s success.

Diversity Management - The comprehensive organizational and managerial process for leveraging diversity and achieving inclusion that maximizes the potential of all employees.

    Workforce Readiness

Workforce Readiness includes the preparation of a qualified workforce through the public schools, vocational and technical colleges, adult education opportunities, remedial employee training, and continuing professional development. Such efforts mandate collaboration between business/industry, local, state, and national government, educators, and the local community.

    Government Affairs

Please check out this area of our website for updates on pending legislative, regulatory and legal action at the federal, state, and local level that may have an impact on the management of human resources.
