PRESENTATION INFORMATION:
Rockford Area SHRM- LEGAL CASE REVIEW
Attorney Kevin Luther will give break out groups a statement of facts that mirror recent significant cases on various employment law topics. Each group will have a spokesperson outline their group's conclusions and reasoning. He will then explain what they decided in the courtroom and their reasoning behind the decisions.
This process will help HR professionals develop the skills they need to be a valuable business partner within their organizations so they can avoid potential legal issues.
Kevin Luther, Attorney at Heyl, Royster, Voelker & Allen, P.C.
Kevin concentrates his practice in the areas of workers’ compensation, employment and labor law, and employer liability. He supervises the Workers’ Compensation and Employment & Labor Practices in the firm’s Rockford and Chicago offices. He is a past chair of the firm’s statewide Workers’ Compensation Practice.

Ann Kossman – Business Development Specialist
Ann Kossman is the Business Development Specialist at Rock Valley Credit Union. Ann has many years of experience working for financial institutions, local educational associations, and healthcare providers. Prior to RVCU, she was the Director of Membership and Sponsorship for the Parks Chamber of Commerce where she grew the membership rate by 70%.
Beyond her professional experience, she has volunteered her talents to The Studio Rockford as their marketing, publicity, and ad sale coordinator, served on the Board of Directors for Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity, and has been a Wish Granter for Make-A-Wish Illinois. Currently, Ann is on the Board of Directors for The Rockford Network of Professional Women as their Public Relations Chair and just completed the summer as the volunteer coordinator for Nik's Wish, a wish organization for young adults with cancer.
