This presentation gives insight to the LGBTQ+ community and the nuances that make it unique. We will discuss the importance of history, inclusivity, and the power of visibility and how this translates to the workplace.
- Identify some of the different labels within the LGBTQ+ community.
- Learn ways to be mindful of language and maintain inclusivity in relation to the LGBTQ+ community.
- Gain knowledge of different aspects of the LGBTQ+ population and their historical rise to visibility.

Our speaker: Monique Engberg, MS, QMHP
Monique Engberg worked with the public in a variety of ways. She was previously was a Legal Advocate and Children’s Sexual Assault Counselor with the YWCA for 4 years. She is well versed, trained, and educated in the Neurobiology of Trauma, Crisis Trained through Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault (ICADV/ICASA), and held committee chair positions for many LGBTQ+ Committees and organizations. Monique is currently a therapist at Stepping Stones of Rockford, assisting clients with any and all mental health/wellness needs. She holds her Bachelors of Fine Arts and Masters of Science in Psychology.
