HR Generalist - Rock Valley College
Rock Valley College, is a comprehensive two-year college in Rockford, Illinois offering more than 100 courses for transfer, career programs and certificates. Founded in 1964, the college is part of the 48-instituion Illinois Community College System.
Job Summary:
Using independent judgment with minimal supervision; involving multiple software to assist the department in assuring legal and fiduciary compliance. Requires prior knowledge of principles and practices of human resources. Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and computer literacy. Assist other staff with office duties required and projects as necessary. Excellent customer service to students, faculty, administration, staff and others through all methods of contact. Confidentiality and discretion are required.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's preferred. Three to five years of Human Resources or Business experience required. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred. Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration, effective oral and written communication skills, Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel (spreadsheet design and entry), database entry, and Web page maintenance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Receives and responds to basic unemployment claims.
•Handle the processing of SURS Annuitant return to work re-hires.
•Respond to salary surveys and compensation studies.
•Monitor multiple positions and CPT hours tracking.
•Monitor and track PPACA.
•Maintain logs and compile statistical reports.
•Perform HR Benefit Specialist and Recruiters position duties in their absence.
•Assist with special project, which may include, research, conducting training and attending committee meetings.
•Maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
•Maintains company organization charts.
•Assist the Executive Director on implementation and maintenance of Safe College training program.
•Provide reports, data, and spreadsheet analysis as needed for staff.
•Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established Goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
•Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
•Regular attendance as scheduled.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Knowledge of Federal and State benefits regulations.
•Knowledge of the new Healthcare Reform Act.
•Must have the ability to maintain information confidentially.
•Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced collaborative environment.
•Exceptional interpersonal skills.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills.
