Susan has been on the Board since April 2009 and has been a member of both National SHRM and Rockford SHRM since 2004.  Susan feels that volunteering is a great way to meet and interact with so many talented HR people in the area and she would like to spend more time networking with colleagues in the HR profession.  She believes that non-profit organizations are critical to the success of so many professions and HR is critical to the success of those same professions.

In her role with the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois, Susan was responsible for all Human Resource functions, plus strategic HR initiatives.  She has been involved in HR for 18 years and has been working for libraries and non-profit organizations for more than 22 years.  She has handled many responsibilities including finance, IT, office management, grant management, and HR.  Susan is SPHR certified and discovered that what she enjoys most and has a talent for is Human Resources.  In her personal time, Susan enjoys oil painting, stained glass, holiday decorating, watching TV, shoe shopping, attending craft fairs, and reading.  A little-known fact: Susan’s best friend for the past 36 years has also worked as her administrative assistant for the past 17 years.
