Workplace Violence - A Practical Response

The purpose of this training is to give HR professionals and their employees some practical responses to an active shooter or an on-going threat to life, where delayed response may result in the loss of life.  Our objectives for this time we have together are:

    1. Increase Survivability
    2. Developing a Survivor Mindset
    3. Practical Responses to Threats
    4. Practical Scenarios

The presenters for this topic are Joe Drought, Chief of Police, Rock Valley College Police Department and a member of his staff.

Chief Joe Drought began his law enforcement career more than 34 years ago in the US Army Military Police Corps, where he spent nine years in various assignments, such as; patrolman, investigator, patrol supervisor, intelligence analyst, squad leader, and explosive detector dog handler.  Additionally, he served the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy, detective, SWAT team member, and narcotic detector dog handler.

For the past 23 years, he has served with the Rock Valley College Police Department, of which the last 19 years have been as the department’s Chief of Police.  He holds many instructor certifications in police firearms, defensive tactics, active shooter response, and self-defense. He and his sergeants developed the Practical Response to Active Shooter class eight years ago and have been teaching this class since then.
