    Session Summary:

Recent developments have significantly changed the landscape for transgender employees in the workplace. Learn what employers need to know and do in order to protect their organizations as well as their employees. In this briefing, Ms. Shah will provide an overview of the status of transgender employees, applicable federal and state employment laws (including Title VII and the Illinois Human Rights Act), discuss the cases that have set the stage for the current shift in position and policy, and discuss best practices for handling the difficult situation facing employers, including providing accommodations related to the use of restrooms and locker rooms.

    Learning Objectives:

After attending this session, employees will have a better understanding of the status of transgender individuals, the latest legal developments related to transgender employees, understand what to do if they have a transgender individual (or someone that is transitioning) in the workplace and learn how to protect themselves and their organization from legal liability.
